If you own a business and employ people you should be evaluating their performance. Yes, it sounds like a lot of work, however, if you evaluate their performance you will get much better results from each individual. The best way to evaluate a team member is to firstly put a note or
reminder in your calendar indicating the day they started with your Company.

Then, give them an annual review. You could make it six monthly if they are senior personnel and have a high demanding position.

You should at least evaluate each of your team members once a year as this will give them valuable feedback on how they are performing. If you have a medium size business, then you should get their direct manager to review their performance. It probably pays that you sit in with each manager for the reviews so you get a very good idea of the company and each individual’s performance.

The best way to evaluate staff is to get hold of an evaluation performance form template. This will allow you to replicate the process and make it much more efficient. Time is money, so you are looking for the most effective ways to review your team and if you have a large team then this is certainly important.

There are many things you can put in an evaluation form template. However, it could be a good idea to find one to download and use something that someone else has already created. This is going to save you significant time and money and also allow you to get on with the job faster.

Typical items in an evaluation form could be;

– Team Player: Does the team member work well with others? Do they aim to get the job done without disrupting the process or the team?

– Time: Does the team member get their work done efficiently? Are they always willing to take on new tasks?

– Time: Do they turn up to work on time? Do they watch the clock and leave on time? Do they put extra effort in after hours?

These are just a couple of examples of way could be in an Evaluation Form. No doubt, you could think of hundreds of other suitable items. The key is to make it relevant to your business and ensure the communication channels are open and honest.

Really an evaluation review is about communicating and you must communicate well if you want your business to operate efficiently and effectively.
