Accident investigations can be expensive as they must be thorough and exhaust all the possibilities. This can involve a large amount of time and manpower not to mention other resources. This can also stop the workplace where the accident has occurred from carrying on in normal business as they have to make themselves and their facilities available to the accident investigators in order to ensure that they can make an accurate and full report.

These high costs can add to the costs of repairs and legal complications that may arise from the accident itself.

By having comprehensive accident investigation policies in place it can be ensured that all affected by the accident can be properly compensated by the right bodies and the accident itself will not reoccur.

For these reasons an accurate accident investigation is beneficial for all parties involved and will ensure that justice can be done and make sure that no party suffers unjustly for an accident that may not have been their fault whatsoever. A mix of internal and external investigations can guarantee minimal corruption and vested interests on the part of investigators as well as making certain that the investigation is able to reach every aspect of the parties involved with the accident itself to find its major causes.
